Religious Sights in Pelion

Hotel Flamingo in Pelion will organize a variety of tourist activities in Pelion focusing on monuments and sights of religious importance. The Orthodox monuments and the influence of the Byzantine art are visible everywhere in Pelion.

The church of Metamorphosis is built on the site of an old monastery dating back in 1168 AD. The church of Agia Kyriaki (Saint Sunday) was built around 1740 AD. It has gold plated carved icon screens. The church of Agios Georgios (Saint George) was built between 1762 and 1792 under the concern of the native Patriarch Callinicus. It’s a typical church of local architecture. The church of Agia Paraskevi (Saint Friday) built in 1803 AD has icons of Russian origin. The chapels of Agios Nicolaos built in 1651 and Agios Ioannis Prodromus built in the late 17th century in Chorefto are only the beginning of our journey.
